Hands up if you’re nervous about entering the theatre for the first time / petrified about being asked by the lead surgeon to scrub in / eager in the pursuit of becoming a surgeon?

Even if you don’t want to become a surgeon, odds are that you will have a surgery placement during your time at medical school and need something to get signed-off.

So in anticipation to this, I’m hoping to deliver an introductory session which will give you an idea of what to expect when entering into the theatre the first time, some general principles that you really need to know whilst there both for patient safety and for your own reputation in front of the staff and general advice on what to do in medical school if you do want to become a surgeon.

This will hopefully form part of a series on surgical operations throughout the body. Stay tuned!
